Model dimensions need room for the intended action
Derive measurements from the object the model must hold.
A slot copied exactly from an object's dimensions may leave too little clearance for insertion. Measure the actual card or figure, consider how it must move and test the fit instead of trusting the sketch alone.
To hand: A paper figure or card.
Include clearance where an object must move or fit. A dimension copied exactly from the object may leave insufficient practical space.
Check the space needed to use it
Measure the object. Add appropriate clearance. Test the fit.
A stand slot matching card thickness too tightly may prevent insertion.
Where is clearance needed? Use a large gauge strip.
A scale sketch does not replace a fit test.
