A choice board should offer different experiences
Offer activities that vary in experience rather than only theme.
Several colouring sheets may provide subject variety while leaving the activity format unchanged. Compare the social, physical and creative demands of the options so the displayed choices represent meaningful alternatives.
Identify the options. Describe what each involves. Allow changes.
Say what each option involves
Building, quiet puzzling and drawing provide different ways to participate.
Describe what each option involves in practical terms. Genuine choice can include different social arrangements, energy levels and ways to respond.
What choice is actually available? Use clear pictures and words.
Several nearly identical colouring sheets offer limited variation.
