Explain a game so the newcomer can try the next turn
Give a newcomer the information needed to participate.
Begin with the goal and one complete demonstration. The new player can then choose a practice attempt, while less immediately relevant exceptions wait until they are needed instead of overwhelming the first explanation.
To hand: A simple tabletop game.
Explain the goal. Show one turn. Offer a practice attempt.
Give the explanation a practical next step
Demonstrating a turn can clarify more than listing every exception first.
Offer a demonstration and practice turn before expecting full participation. The explanation can be checked through choices rather than public questioning.
Check understanding without putting someone on the spot.
What can the newcomer try next? Provide a picture sequence.
