Bridge comparisons need the span written into the record
Keep the span fixed when evaluating alternative deck designs.
Moving the supports closer together changes the test, even if the paper deck stays the same. Fix and measure the gap before comparing designs so another group can understand the conditions behind the result.
Record the span as part of the setup. Without it, another group cannot reproduce the comparison or interpret the load result reliably.
The gap is part of the setup
- Mark the support positions.
- Test each deck.
- Record the same outcome.
A shorter gap would give one design a different test.
Span changes affect interpretation. Did the supports move?
Tape reference marks to the table.
