Activity Learning-Opportunity Mapper

Map planned actions to possible learning opportunities and participation supports, then print space to record what actually happened.

Use 1–6 lines in each list, up to 120 characters per line. Line 1 in each list belongs to the same plan, then line 2, and so on. Do not leave blank lines.

These are editable planning examples, not verified learning outcomes. Use activity descriptions without names or personal information.

Check the three matching lists, then create the map.

Start with what children will actually do

Allow about 5–10 minutes to map one activity before the session. Write a concrete action in the first list, a possible opportunity to explore in the second and a participation support in the third. Keep the same order and number of lines in each list. The two bridge examples can be edited or replaced; the tool pairs your entries and does not infer learning outcomes.

For example, comparing bridge designs may offer a chance to discuss test conditions. It does not establish that every participant understands fair testing. For younger children, offer pointing, showing a change or drawing. Older children may compare measurements or explain what they would test next. Include observing, a seated role, assistance or passing where appropriate.

Revisit the plan after the activity

Each plan leaves four writing lines for what actually happened and a change or question to check later. Record group actions without names or identifying details, and separate observations from interpretation. Ask children whether the choices and supports worked for them; an unfinished activity or a different choice can inform the next plan.

For Australian programs, use the MTOP reference to consider possible connections yourself. American programs should consult their own local guidance. This map does not assign official alignments, assess children or certify compliance. The observation prompts can help you plan what to look for.

Keep and print the template

The map prints two plans per page with A4 or US Letter paper. Print at 100% scale with browser headers and footers off, and check the preview. Save settings keeps your planning text and paper size in a local file. Handwritten notes are not collected or included. Avoid personal information in the planning fields or settings file.
