Faster does not have to mean louder
Compare speed while maintaining a comfortable volume.
Perform the same short pattern at two comfortable speeds while keeping volume similar. This gives tempo a clear comparison and avoids a demonstration where speed, loudness and excitement all change at once.
Perform at a slow pace. Repeat faster. Describe the change.
Change the pace without changing everything else
The same pattern can be faster without being louder.
Keep the pattern and comfortable volume similar during the comparison. Otherwise several simultaneous changes can obscure the meaning of tempo.
Which feature changed? Use a moving visual cue.
Tempo and volume need separate language.
