A crescendo changes gradually rather than jumping suddenly
Represent a gradual increase rather than an abrupt jump.
A widening band can give the group a visual model of increasing volume. Trace it first and keep the performance within the agreed range, with gesture-only participation available throughout.
Read the shape key. Trace the change. Perform gently or gesture.
Follow the shape of the change
A widening band can indicate gradually increasing volume in this notation.
Trace the widening shape slowly and preserve the gradual change. A sudden jump represents a different expressive choice from a crescendo.
Stay within the agreed listening range.
Was the change gradual? Use gestures only.
