An information-desk helper needs a small supported role
Let children help explain the activity options through a supported voluntary role.
A child might enjoy showing visitors where the puzzle station is on a map. Define that contribution narrowly and provide an educator help route, keeping supervision, personal information and access decisions outside the role.
Define the information role narrowly so it remains manageable. Helpers can explain activity choices without being responsible for supervision, personal information or decisions about access.
Prepare the answers and the referral point
List the questions visitors may ask. Prepare accurate answers and a help route. Try the role with an educator.
A visitor asking where to find the quiet puzzle station can be shown its marked place on the event map.
Children should refer questions outside the agreed role to an educator.
What can the helper explain and when should they seek support? Offer paired, seated or picture-pointing roles.
