Friction on two surfaces: watch the stopping position
Compare motion over surfaces using the same object and starting procedure.
Use the same lightweight slider across two secured surfaces. A difference in stopping position becomes worth discussing when the starting procedure is comparable; changing the object or giving it a different push introduces another question.
A textured mat may stop the slider sooner in these trials.
Check that the surface samples remain in place. A slipping sample changes the setup and makes the comparison harder to interpret.
Secure the sample before repeating
Set a consistent start. Try each surface repeatedly. Compare stopping positions.
Were the starting conditions alike? Use a short reachable track.
Avoid claiming one result applies to every material.
