Decode a short message
Write 1–6 messages of up to 80 characters each. Use letters, spaces and sentence punctuation; leave out numbers, slashes and other symbols. Accents are converted to letters and messages print in uppercase. Start with a number code or choose shuffled letters for more key lookup. The seed reproduces the shuffled-letter key. Each child page repeats the key and a worked example, with three messages per page. Children can write, point to the letters, or decode with a partner. For an extension, let partners write a new message with the same key. Use invented messages and do not enter private information.
Save a PDF or print
Select A4 or US Letter before printing. In the print dialog, choose your printer or Save as PDF, use 100% scale and turn off browser headers and footers. Check the preview before handing out copies.
