Collaborative Project Planning Sheets

Print two group planning pages for agreeing on a project, choosing jobs and materials, and recording attempts and changes.

Describe the project without names or personal information. The group fills in the pages by hand.

Check the project, then create the two planning pages.

Agree on a project together

Allow about 10–15 minutes for the first planning discussion, with the printed pages and drawing or writing tools. Children decide what they want to make or do, the materials and space needed, and the jobs they could choose. For a cardboard model town, jobs might include drawing a map, folding buildings or arranging roads. Use job descriptions rather than names on a shared page.

Read one prompt at a time. Younger children can point, draw, demonstrate an idea or use a scribe; older children can compare suggestions and sequence the steps. Offer observing, a seated job, help or passing. Let children change jobs, and leave room for different ideas rather than requiring one person to lead or every child to do the same task.

Try the plan and revisit it

The second page asks for first, next and last steps and a pause to check the plan. Return to its remaining prompts after trying the project: record what happened and a change to try. An unfinished project can still provide something to discuss. Ask permission before recording someone’s words or displaying the page, and include only ideas the group chooses to share.

An adult checks materials, available space, tools and supervision using the program’s own processes. This template does not approve a project’s safety, assign staffing ratios or assess children’s learning outcomes. Avoid names, photos, identifying details and private experiences. Use your own secure processes if an individual record is needed.

Keep and print the template

Print both pages for one group, choosing drawing boxes or writing lines, A4 or US Letter. Each page has three 40 mm response spaces. Print at 100% scale with browser headers and footers off and check the preview. Save settings keeps only the title, project description, layout and paper size in a local file. Handwritten group plans are not recorded by this website. For shorter discussions, try the group reflection prompts.
