A familiar game in the Board Game Builders theme

Dice and spinner set Leader Moves adapts Simon Says / Follow the Leader with this cue: The leader chooses one action—reach, turn, march on the spot or tap a four-beat rhythm—and the group copies at its own pace. The printable keeps the rules cooperative, removes elimination and gives educators practical ways to adjust movement and participation.

Set up

  • Give each player a personal movement space and check overhead, floor and furniture clearance.
  • Demonstrate the cue phrase and two movements, including a seated or small-movement version.
  • Explain that a missed cue simply means keep playing—there is no elimination.

How to play

  1. The leader gives one theme movement using the agreed cue phrase.
  2. Players copy only when the full cue phrase is used, or copy every movement for a simpler Follow the Leader version.
  3. Change leader after three to five cues so several children can contribute ideas.
  4. Finish with one slow movement and let children choose whether to join, watch or help call the next cue.

Theme variations

  • Hold up one of the four Board Game Builders scene cards before each action so the leader can connect the movement with that setting.
  • Place three action cards in a row, perform them in order and let a second leader swap two cards before the next round.

Include more ways to join

Every movement can be done seated, standing or with one body part. Show picture cues, model before speaking and allow a co-leader.

Safety check

  • Use controlled movements that fit the available space.
  • Do not include forced contact, blindfolds, inversions or competitive speed.
  • Check that jumping, spinning and floor movements suit the group and surface.

Printing notes

The download is a two-page A4 illustrated guide. Page one contains the core game. Page two includes theme variations, participation options, educator checks and a dashed cut-off quick-reference card that can be kept with the game equipment or laminated.
