Paper weaving: follow the crossings one at a time

Follow alternating placement while keeping strips broad and manageable.

Broad contrasting strips make the over-under relationship easier to see. Compare neighbouring rows and locate the switches, describing the activity as a general paper technique rather than attributing it to a tradition without authority.

A second row beginning under changes the crossing pattern.

Let the crossing pattern guide the next move

  1. Start the first row.
  2. Alternate the next row.
  3. Check intersections.

Keep strip widths generous and check one crossing at a time. The activity can practise alternating structure without claiming a cultural origin.

This general paper technique should not claim a specific cultural tradition.

Where does the sequence switch? Use wide contrasting strips.
