Constellation lines belong to the chart
Distinguish an apparent pattern from a physical drawing between stars.
A star-pattern diagram adds lines to help a viewer recognise an apparent arrangement. Ask what those marks mean and from which viewpoint the pattern is shown, rather than implying physical connections between the stars.
State that the chart represents a view from a specified perspective. Apparent proximity on a chart does not establish physical proximity in space.
An added line is a reading aid
Identify viewpoint labels. Trace the depicted pattern. Discuss diagram conventions.
Lines on a chart help viewers recognise a pattern.
Do not imply the lines physically connect stars.
What does the added line mean? Use a tabletop dot model.
