An art revision needs a goal the maker recognises

Change an image to address an identified intention.

A darker sign outline might improve visibility; an extra background object might not. Start with the intended change in communication, then compare versions so the revision serves the maker's purpose rather than an unrelated adult preference.

Keep the revision linked to the maker's stated goal. A change is useful when it serves that intention rather than an unrelated adult preference.

Change one feature for a reason

State the goal. Try one alteration. Compare the effect.

Darkening a sign outline can improve its visibility.

Did the change serve the goal? Use tracing overlays.

Revision need not erase the original idea.
