Paper aircraft: change one feature and give the comparison a fair chance
Change one design feature while keeping the launch procedure consistent.
One impressive flight can dominate a group's memory. Agree on the launch and measurement procedures, repeat the comparison and record the full set before deciding what the changed wing feature might have done.
Agree on how distance is measured and what counts as a completed flight. Record unusual attempts rather than quietly removing them.
Keep the launch conditions in the record
- Select one feature.
- Agree on the launch procedure.
- Repeat and compare flights.
Compare wider and narrower wings using the same paper size.
One flight cannot establish a reliable advantage. What else changed?
Record distances with floor markers.
