Which materials transmit the torch light?
Compare how materials affect a torch beam in a shaded indoor space.
Clear plastic, card and translucent samples can produce noticeably different effects. Compare them with the same torch arrangement and describe what reaches the screen, allowing for partial or diffuse transmission rather than forcing every sample into two extremes.
Illuminate each sample. Observe transmitted light. Group with explanations.
Observe the light beyond the sample
Compare samples using the same torch and distance. Some materials transmit diffuse light rather than fitting neatly into an all-or-nothing category.
Card blocks the beam while clear plastic transmits much of it.
Keep beams away from eyes.
What evidence supports the grouping? Observe a large projected patch.
