Two nearby garden places can offer different conditions
Record conditions at two nearby places without disturbing them.
An exposed path edge and a shaded patch may look different even within the same garden. Record those visible conditions from safe existing viewpoints, keeping the habitat undisturbed while comparing the observations.
Observe from existing safe viewpoints and leave features in place. The task concerns differences in recorded conditions, not collecting organisms.
Describe the place before explaining who lives there
Select two locations. Describe shade and surface conditions. Compare observations.
Beneath a leafy cover may look different from an exposed path edge.
What was observed rather than assumed? Compare educator photographs.
Do not move logs or enter unsafe vegetation.
