Seasonal Events & Holiday Activities for OSHC & School

Welcome to our Seasonal Events library, your year-round resource for festive fun! The school year is punctuated by special events—from the excitement of Christmas and Easter to the spookiness of Halloween and the community spirit of Book Week. We know that OSHC educators and teachers are busiest during these peak times, often juggling end-of-term exhaustion with the need for high-energy, engaging programming. That is why we have created this collection of free seasonal printables. Whether you need a quick “Mother’s Day” card template, a “Father’s Day” craft, or a respectful activity for ANZAC Day or Remembrance Day, we have you covered.

Educational Benefits & Framework Links Participating in seasonal events is a key part of a child’s social development. These activities align directly with the My Time, Our Place (MTOP) Framework:

  • Outcome 2 (Children are connected with and contribute to their world): By celebrating community events and cultural festivals, children develop a sense of belonging. They learn about the traditions that shape their community and the diverse ways people celebrate.

  • Outcome 1 (Children have a strong sense of identity): Making gifts for family members (e.g., Mother’s Day cards) strengthens family bonds and allows children to express gratitude and love.

  • Outcome 3 (Children have a strong sense of wellbeing): Festive activities often bring joy and excitement. Creating decorations for the OSHC room gives children a sense of ownership and pride in their environment.

A Calendar of Resources Our collection covers the major Australian and international events:

  • Term 1: Back to School, Australia Day/Invasion Day, Valentine’s Day, Harmony Day, Easter.

  • Term 2: ANZAC Day, Mother’s Day, National Reconciliation Week.

  • Term 3: NAIDOC Week, Book Week, Science Week, Father’s Day.

  • Term 4: Halloween, Diwali, Remembrance Day, Christmas/Holiday Season.

How to Use These Resources

  • The “End of Term” Survival Kit: As the term winds down and energy levels (and patience!) can run low, use our themed colouring pages and puzzles to keep the room calm and focused.

  • Gift Making: Use our craft templates to help children create low-cost, high-sentiment gifts for their families.

  • Room Decoration: Don’t spend your budget on store-bought decorations. Print our bunting, posters, and cut-outs, and let the children decorate the room themselves!
